Early Childhood

GIRLS:
Dress: Black and white gingham dress with the red paw print logo. Shorts should be worn underneath the dress but should not extend beyond the hemline of the dress. In cold weather, a white turtleneck may be worn under the dress.
Shoes: White tennis shoes
Socks: White crew socks. In cold weather, black tights or leggings may be worn.
Outerwear: Red cardigan sweater

BOYS:
Shirt: White polo shirt with SLES logo
Shorts/Pants: Gray twill shorts or pants with elastic waist
Shoes: Solid black athletic shoes
Socks: Solid black crew socks
Outerwear: Red full zip hooded sweatshirt

Lower School Grades 1-3

GIRLS:
Blouse: White peter pan collared blouse with red piping
Jumper: Plaid SLES jumper with logo
Shoes: Black and grey saddle oxfords (white and black saddle oxfords are permitted for 2015-2016 only)
Socks: White ankle socks. In cold weather, black tights or leggings may be worn. 

BOYS:
Shirt: White polo shirt with SLES logo
Shorts/Pants: Grey twill shorts or pants
Belt: Solid black belt (plain or braided)
Shoes: Solid black athletic shoes
Socks: Solid black crew socks 

Outerwear: Only the official St. Luke’s outerwear purchased from Zoghby’s is acceptable outerwear. In extremely cold or inclement weather, students are permitted to supplement the official outerwear.  Sweatshirts must be purchased from Zoghby’s. Athletic wear from activities or teams are not allowed to be worn during the school day.
Physical Education Classes: Uniform PE shorts are required for boys and girls in grades 1-5.  The uniform PE shirt is required for boys and girls in grade 3-5.

Lower School Grades 4-5

GIRLS:
Blouse: White (short or long sleeve) polo shirt with monogram or white oxford button down (short or long sleeve) with monogram. White button down uniform shirts, short or long sleeve, must be worn under the jumper.
Skort or Jumper: Plaid skort or plaid SLES jumper with logo.  Only the button down shirt may be worn with the jumper. White button down uniform shirts, short or long sleeve, must be worn under the jumper.
Shoes: Black and grey suede saddle oxfords
Socks: White ankle socks with logo. In cold weather, black tights or leggings may be worn.
Girls’ Jewelry: Simple gold or silver jewelry is allowed. Hoop style or dangling earrings are unacceptable for safety reasons. The administration will have the final say as to whether jewelry is acceptable  for school.
Girls’ Make-up: No make-up is allowed. Nail polish must be clear or neutral in color.
Girls’ Hair Apparel: White, black, or red ribbon or plaid bows that match the uniform or simple barrettes may be worn in the hair. Headbands of white, red, black, or plaid may also be worn. For one week prior to holidays, special seasonal bows, ribbons and barrettes may be worn. No radical hairstyles, accessories or colors are allowed.

BOYS:

Girls in those grades may wear either the traditional PE sweatshirt purchased from the school or the sweatshirt with the wildcat emblem. Girls may also wear slacks, purchased from Zoghby’s, during cold weather for PE. Only clearly designated non-marking shoes may be worn for PE in the gymnasiums.

Middle School and Upper School

GIRLS:
Blouse:  White (short or long sleeve) polo shirt with monogram or white oxford button down with monogram (short or long sleeve). Upper School Girls may wear the black (short or long sleeve) sleeve polo shirt with monogram.  Senior Girls may wear the black long sleeve button down with monogram.
Skirt: Black/red kilt style skirt, box pleat skirt, or skort no shorter than three inches above the knee beginning with the top of the knee cap. Skirts will be measured.
Jumper: Gray jumper with SLES monogram. White button down uniform shirts with monogram, short or long sleeve, must be worn under the jumper. Jumpers may be worn no shorter than three inches above the knee. Jumpers are traditionally shorter than skirts; parents are responsible for making sure jumpers are the appropriate length. Jumpers are not acceptable on chapel days.
Blazer: St. Luke’s black blazer with the school emblem is required on chapel days and other special occasions.

*On chapel days and on special occasions, Middle and Upper School girls are required to wear the white oxford shirt with monogram (short or long sleeve) and the black blazer with the school emblem. 

Shoes: Gray and black suede saddle oxford shoe. Shoes should be in good condition with no holes/tears.
Socks: White socks. In cold weather, black tights or leggings may be worn.
Outerwear: Students may wear the St. Luke’s blazer with emblem, an approved fleece jacket, solid black v-neck sweater or anorak. In addition, students may wear approved black sweatshirts with the St. Luke’s monogram. Black outerwear purchased through an approved “spirit pack” and displaying a school logo may also be worn.  These sweatshirts will allow students to exhibit any school activity or athletic team. Students are not allowed to wear hoods anytime in any buildings. Students who have earned a varsity athletic letter will be allowed to wear a varsity jacket designated by the school.
PE: SLES or plain red, black, white, or gray t-shirt and plain red, black, or gray shorts of an appropriate length.  Only clearly designated non-marking shoes may be worn for PE in the gymnasiums. Red, black or gray sweatpants/sweatshirts may be worn during PE in colder weather.
Jewelry: Excessive jewelry is not permitted and students should not wear jewelry that may cause distractions. One earring per ear allowed.
Body Art: Permanent, semi-permanent or temporary tattoos or body art, including body piercings (other than one earring as dictated by the jewelry policy), are not to be visible anytime during school or school related activities.
Make-up and Hair: Make-up, hair and nail polish should be modest and should not draw excessive attention. No bright colored eye makeup or lip color is permitted. No radical hairstyles, accessories or colors are allowed.


BOYS:
Shirt: White (short or long sleeve) polo shirt with monogram or white oxford button down  with monogram (short or long sleeve). Upper School Boys may wear the black (short or long sleeve) sleeve polo shirt with monogram. Senior Boys may wear the black long sleeve button down with monogram.
Pants: Charcoal gray long pants without cuffs. No corduroy, denim or brushed cotton fabric. No brand names visible.
Blazer: St. Luke’s black blazer with the school emblem is required on chapel days and other special occasions.
Tie: The St. Luke’s standard tie, purchased from Zoghby’s, is required for middle and upper school boys on chapel days and special occasions. The St. Luke’s bow tie is also an option, but cannot be worn on picture day.

*On chapel days and on special occasions, Middle and Upper School boys are required to wear the white oxford shirt with monogram (short or long sleeve), the black blazer with the school emblem and the St. Luke’s tie. Shirts must be neatly tucked in pants.

Shoes: Black penny loafers (no tassels). Shoes should be in good condition with no holes/tears.
Socks: Black crew socks. Ankle and no show socks are prohibited.
Belt: Black plain or braided leather. No emblem, no large or ornate buckles.
Outerwear: Students may wear the St. Luke’s black blazer with emblem, an approved fleece jacket, solid black v-neck sweater or anorak. In addition, students may wear black sweatshirts with the St. Luke’s monogram.Black outerwear purchased through an approved “spirit pack” and displaying a school logo may also be worn. These sweatshirts will allow students to exhibit any school activity or athletic team. Students are not allowed to wear hoods anytime in any buildings. Hair: Hair must be neatly trimmed, must not touch the shirt collar, fall below the eyebrows or below the earlobe. No radical haircuts or colors are allowed. Facial hair is not permitted.

Notes

Heavy jackets or coats may be worn to school in freezing weather, but they may not be worn in the classroom. Black jackets or coats are preferred but not required.

  • Girls may wear black tights or leggings to school under their uniform skirt in freezing weather at the discretion of the school. No sweatpants or yoga pants.
  • Only plain white T-shirts/undergarments may be worn under blouses and shirts and should not show at sleeves.
  • All uniform apparel must be neat, clean, properly fitted, and in good repair.
  • All uniform apparel must be clearly marked with the student’s name, including shoes, P.E. bags, book bags and lunch boxes.

Exceptions to the Dress Code

  • Boy Scout and Girl Scout uniforms are acceptable on days of meetings.
  • Out-of-uniform black or white shoes may be worn while uniform shoes are being repaired or because of an injury to the foot. A note must be sent by a parent and approved by the administration.

Exceptions on small items may be made for one or two days provided parents send a note of explanation and approval is granted by the administration. There will be no exception made for shoes or other items left in the gym or in after school care.
